The Betty Ford Institute's Summer Institute for Medical Students (SIMS) gives medical students an in-depth learning experience with the dynamics of the disease of addiction. During the week-long session, students learn about this disease from the perspective of the patient or family member. Supplementing this experience with the education provided by our physicians and treatment experts enables the student to view addiction to alcohol and other drugs from an entirely unique perspective.
The SIMS program is offered at no cost to the selected students, including travel and accommodations. We are located in the beautiful Palm Springs area. The costs of the program are underwritten by philanthropic support. To be considered, students must complete an online application and provide letters of recommendation.
